Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 14, 2026

Mwayiwanga Careers ("we," "us," "our," or the "Platform") operates mwayiwanga.onrender.com, a job and grant adverts platform serving job seekers, funding seekers, employers, and organizations across Malawi. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights available to you. By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information in the following ways:

a. Information you provide directly

  • Account and contact details, such as your name, email address, and phone number, when you subscribe to job alerts, contact support, or apply for admin/employer access.
  • Content submitted for job or grant adverts, including organization name, descriptions, PDF documents, and images, when posting is done through the Platform.
  • Correspondence you send us, such as support requests or feedback.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Usage data such as pages viewed, adverts saved or shared, search filters used, time spent on the Platform, and referring/exit pages.
  • Device and technical data such as IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies, described in more detail in Section 3.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform and its features, such as browsing, filtering, saving, and sharing job or grant adverts.
  • Send job or grant alert notifications you have subscribed to.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Platform.
  • Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve content, layout, and performance.
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues, fraud, or misuse of the Platform.
  • Display advertising, including personalized advertising, as described in Section 3.
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Cookies, Advertising & Third-Party Tools

We use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform, understand how it is used, and support advertising. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device that helps a website recognize your browser and remember certain information.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics (Google tag / gtag.js) to understand how visitors use the Platform, including pages visited, session duration, and general geographic region. Google may process this data in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.

Advertising

The Platform may display advertisements served by third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites ("interest-based" or "personalized" advertising). Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or generally manage participating vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting aboutads.info/choices. Opting out does not mean you will see fewer ads overall, only that the ads you see may be less relevant to your interests.

Managing cookies

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Because cookies support certain features, disabling them may limit some functionality of the Platform.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal data, we rely on: your consent (for example, for optional job alerts or non-essential cookies); the necessity of processing to provide the Platform's services to you; our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Platform; and compliance with legal obligations.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers that help us operate the Platform, such as hosting providers (Render), database providers (MongoDB), analytics providers (Google), and advertising networks (Google AdSense and similar).
  • Employers or organizations whose adverts you interact with, only to the extent necessary if you choose to apply or make contact directly through information provided in an advert.
  • Legal and safety purposes, where we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with the law, protect the rights, property, or safety of Mwayiwanga Careers, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers, if the Platform is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Platform's services, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Job and grant adverts, along with related analytics, may be retained for historical and record-keeping purposes even after an advert has closed or expired.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal or operational exceptions.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, including for direct marketing or personalized advertising.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, such as unsubscribing from job alerts using the link in any alert email.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 13. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

9. Children's Privacy

The Platform is intended for job seekers, funding seekers, and organizations who are legally able to enter employment or funding relationships, and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

10. International Data Transfers

Our service providers, including hosting, database, analytics, and advertising partners, may process information on servers located outside Malawi. Where this occurs, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place consistent with applicable data protection laws.

Job and grant adverts, as well as social sharing features, may link to third-party websites, such as employer websites or social media platforms. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any personal information.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
